The poster session will provide a forum for researchers to showcase their work and obtain feedback on ongoing research from knowledgeable symposium attendees. Areas of interest are the same as those listed in the Forums. While the poster need not describe completed work, it should report on research for which at least preliminary results are available. We especially encourage submissions by students (that is, for which a student is the first author on the poster).
What is a poster?
A poster is an opportunity to publish a very short article and discuss it with your peers. It may be an overview of a technical topic, problem, question, product, or case study. It may include drawings, text, code fragments, or whatever you need to make your point.The typical poster is not just a shortened version of a conference talk (although those are acceptable!); posters are less formal, more interactive, and may provoke argument. Your poster will be on view throughout the symposium, so the main ideas should be clear without explanation.
Why posters?
Increase the variety of points of view aired at the SymposiumEncourage two-way communicationAllow detailed and esoteric presentationsProvide a forum for “small” presentations (ideas shorter than a symposium paper, of interest to only a few people, or which are best communicated graphically).
Submit a poster?
Prepare a two page abstract describing your poster contents and submit to our 'Poster Submission System' at: http://www.smartdocheritage.org/posters/. Your poster should address the why, when and how of heritage information (in that order of importance) for preservation of the entire spectrum of the built environment. It should clearly provide and illustrate:
Why: need(s) or issue(s) addressed;
Where or Context: Site or application background;
When: Method or tools used to address the why and when;
Effectiveness: results and assessment of the approach;Lessons learned.
Deadline
The deadline for poster submissions is 11:59 pm U.S. Eastern time, on June 24, 2010. Submissions will be reviewed, and authors will be notified of acceptance by September 3, 2010. Two-page poster abstracts will appear in the conference website and electronic proceedings.

Innovative posters, illustrating the use of recording, documentation and information systems in preservation of built heritage will be rewarded with the "The Best Poster Awards". The Journal of Cultural Heritage Management and Sustainable Development (JCHMSD) edited by Ana Pereira Roders and Ron van Oers have offered to publish these posters in this prestigious publication.
